1970's car prices

Help need from the Pistonheads knowledge base.

I am in the process of doing a price comparison from 1974 to 2010. I have found the cost of houses and bread and pretty much anything else from 1974 apart from cars.

I am looking for the list price of an average car on sale in 1974 (Leyland, Austin, VW, Ford Consul/Capri type car)

I have looked high and low over the internet but cannot find anything concrete.

would think you could get that from an old copy of what car/auto car etc. Search for PDF files of aututocar or similar for the year. e.g. http://www.stagbytriumph.co.uk/magazines/1970/30-0...
