sorry surely engine capacity is continuous rather than discrete. there are an infinite number of engine capacities available and also an infinite number in between every capacity you have listed.

Think there have been 0.7 and 0.8l Smarts at one time or another.

1.2 Polo
1.4 Almost anything!
2.4 Audi A4
3.1 Nissan Patrol
3.8 Jag E-Type
3.9 Range Rover
5.0 (you can't have the 850 I'm afraid. Think it was a 5.5) Think a Ford Mustang would fit the bill.

In fairness, the point you made was pretty pedantic. Rightly or wrongly, we refer to engines as 1.X or 3.Y as convention and CC sizes are rounded accordingly. It's just for fun!

Isn't this rounding it up a bit though?? The smart has a 698cc motor doesn't it, so 0.7 not 0.6

But then there's how accurate the displacement is e.g.

a 3.9 and 4.0 Rover V8 are the same displacement.

A 302ci Ford OHV is badged as 5.0 but it's 4.9 litre.

A 400ci Poncho is more like 6.5, but 6.6 is the latter metric marketing figure.

When you've finished the little ones you can start on the big stuff,

5.7 as featured in the Corvette for decades
6.0 as featured in some recent "small block" Corvettes
6.2 as featured in some recent "small block" Corvettes
7.0 as featured in some recent "small block" Corvettes (also the old big block)

8.0 as featured in the Dodge Viper

That was quick! Can we do it again and use only vehicles currently in production?
