After Passing Your Test...

Guys help me out here please.

The girl at work passed her driving test about a year and a half ago, and never bought a car or has even driven since.

She just asked me "Is there a time limit on how long I can have my licence for with out driving before I have to take me test again?"

I immediately thought no, as there isn't particularly a way to find out if you have or not with out a lot of searching I'd imagine. But, I do remember this rumour when I passed.

Definitive answer if possible please people. Jibberish, right?

Hope not. I think it is a long time if there is. I haven't driven since passing my test over a year ago simply because i can't afford the insurance. I have driven around my mates field and on private roads though, so at least i haven't forgotten completely.

Photocard licenses expire every 10 years

edit : not that renewing it involves taking a test again, but just saying she couldnt sit back till knitting needle time

My Dad said he did this. He didn't get a car until 2 years after he passed his test. He said he did a refresher course where he just went out in an instructors car, no need for another test. I'm pretty sure any instructor would do this if she phoned them up.

Edit: This was about 35 years ago though so it might have changed.

I didn't drive for 2 years after my test, either. I never drove on "R-plates".
