I really like the look of this one but being a Maserati virgin could do with some views from those in the know. Is the spec ok? Anything missing that should be on there? Is the mileage at 37k too leggy? A massive service looming?

Any views much appreciated.

it looks lovely (love the red stitiching).
can't help you on spec, but it seems like similarly priced cars have much lower mileage (which I am sure you are aware of)

37,000 miles in 2 years! yikes

If it has been looked after, then I'm sure there is no reason not to, but as mentioned, can see some similarly priced cars with less mileage!

Hard to say. As the owner of a 4200GT I can state that mileage kills values of Masers. That said the GranTurismo is doing very well in the trade and the choice is not that wide. If you want black on black then go for it. Otherwise I would find something with lower miles for the same cash, even if it means going to an 08 08 or 08 57.

As has been said above, if its been looked after then there is no reason not to buy at this mileage, if the price is right. Whilst I think the car will be more than up to doing this sort of mileage in the 2 years, it does look slightly expensive given that there are others with lower mileage. Nice looking car but suspect you can do better. Good luck!

Thanks for your prompt responses so far. There are similar priced cars but are 6-18 months older? This is a Nov 08 car so under two years old. If the mileage is motorway mileage would it be such an issue? I'd plan on holding for no more than two years and wouldn't add anything more than 8,000 miles in that time.

Still a real issue? If so what do you think a fair price would be?

Thanks again.

Not up to date on Maser dealer gross margins but they were £8k in the old days.

The GT came out in Oct 07 so you will only find one that is a year older than this one.

There is another 30k+ one on Autotrader but that is £5k cheaper - has been listed for over a month if that helps.

FWIW Black is a strong resale colour for these cars.

Thanks EC2 and Colossus - good points.

I'll have a sniff around on pricing to get a better feel but the Autotrader at £49,995 is a great help.

There's a sub-2 year oldone going to auction at Manaheim with 28k on it. They clearly handle the miles!

Wouldnt want to think about the fuel bill though.

Same price, 10k miles, and very dark grey/tan.

Yum.

To buy the other one would be insanity.

Thanks very much for the link.

Sorry I'm still unclear why it would be mad to buy the other? Does the mileage really make that much difference? It's got over a year left on the Maserati warranty, has had three services with the last at 34,000 miles and is a year younger than most currently up for sale.
If I went with the other cars the Maserati warranty expires in two/three months and I don't fancy being exposed to no warranty.

Have had a good chat with a couple of Maserati service guys this morning and so far they've not found any issues on the higher mileage cars they take care of.

Assuming ultimately it is down to just price, what is a fair price for it?

I'd be going in at £49,995 and would be surprised if they said no.

At that price it's a good buy i reckon, providing the service history is kosher and there isn't a massive service bill just around the corner.

Great cars though.

Thanks for the feedback.

Will see what they've got to say on the price.

Cheers.

I met an owner of a GT last week and he didn’t like it – no oomph – traded it in within 8 weeks and got the 4.7 GTS MC instead.

It may be worth test driving the GT & S back to back to see if you can live with the difference?

Arent the cheapest GT-S's still £70k though?

As I can't afford a GTS I'm definitely not test driving one - ignorance is bliss!

the 37k car is verging on unsellable. mileage is big on masers not to the extent of ferraris but its a big consideration. doesnt matter whether the cars can do it or not its market perception. at that mileage i would say you are eliminating 90% + of the buying population, especially as when you try to sell it will have 40k plus on the clock, no franchised dealer will touch it so you would have to sell on commission to indy or private.

not meaning to sound too negative and car looks great but paying more for another car would cost you less overall in my view

The dealer has been using it as his own car as a friend has seen it in london and see it on a regular basis around town.

Ive seen him cruising about in it aswell....

He tends to overprice his cars......

In fact, here it is in london
