Tax brackets this year and next

Hi PH,

I'm currently trying to buy a new car (well, old, but new to me). 3.2 2005-2006 boxsters often have in the advert "low tax not the higher tax for the newer 3.4" etc. I am pretty sure a 3.2 is 245 quid a year, is a 3.4 405?

Whilst looking into it, google found me some news articles implying 2001-2006 era cars over a certain co2/mile would all be 430 quid next year. Is this true?

I believe that the intention was to change the taxation on all cars registered after 2001 (ie those with tax gas numbers) but pre-06 cars were held off in order to be "nice" to the motorist for a couple of years. When I complained to my Labour-scum MP she told me that the prices for pre-06 would be going up in 2011/12 but could not give an exact date.

Whether this will be halted with the new government, I do not know, and the DVLA website is not very informative on the subject with my current local MP uninformative on the subject

I seriously doubt that, th current con-lib alliance is trying to right the country's wrongs, starting with the natinoal defecit. Who do you suppose they will hit first, once they have cancelled all the new schools,loans,roads etc etc? Thats right, us, again

Gah. I'm trying to budget, but the poncey government can't just publish their plans, can they? Tosspots!

No wonder we're in the ste, if the treasury doesn't even have a business plan together...
