I have just received a letter from BMW regarding my warranty which runs out on the 4th September.

I had been thinking about extending my warranty anyway. For my car (an E90 325I M Sport) the costs are:

Comprehensive £349
Named component £302
Driveline £244

All with £100 excess.

Basically is the cover worth it (are there better alternatives?) and which one would be best to go for?

Read the t and c's carefully as the terms can be quite different to the manufacturers warranty. If all is ok with complying then this would probably be the best option imho.

I got mine in while on holiday... 835 quid comprehensive for an M.

In your case .... just a one day visit to a main dealer will recoup the outlay.

Just renewed mine, note the costs in the letter are 'typical' and they may be different depending on mileage eg my letter said £410 for 50k miles and £100 excess, the cars doen 61k and with a £250 excess it is £531

The costs I described above are for the mileage on my car ~23,000 miles.

To be honest you would be silly not to renew it, especially at that price.

You can increase the price slightly by opting for a £0 excess policy, I did this on both my M3 and 335d
