Stupid question about passports and internal UK flights
Discussion
No requirement from the Government/Homoffice to carry a passport for internals. However Airlines stipulate it is required. In case of emergency diversion/ and that only passport identification is given to supervisors, not for ID cards or driving licences.
passport is a must i'm afraid.
Gwiz.
oh and trust me on this one

"Thank you for contacting us.
I can confirm that you will need to provide a photographic ID for a domestic flight. We will accept and prefer a piece of valid photographic ID as long as it includes;
1. Your Name (should match that on the booking).
2. Your Photo (should resemble you).
The document should be laminated, and issued by a government authority or a registered company or an organization which had to verify your identity in the first place. So, any item of valid photographic ID that meets the above criteria can be used as an ID on a domestic flight.
ID, driver's license and passport would be acceptable up to five years after expiry date for UK domestic flights. Please refer to the relevant national organization for the regulations regarding travel on an expired document on domestic flights.
Some examples of acceptable domestic ID:
- Valid passport,
- Valid photographic EU or Swiss national identity card,
- Valid photographic driving license,
- Citizencard.
I have included a link below for more information about photographic identification:

I do hope I have been able to answer your question fully. To update your query please reply to this email and we will be happy to assist you further."
