Let's see how BMW play this. The MINI itself remains a bit of a go kart car. The early BBC reports talk of a "softer" car which may move it away from it's "natural" market.

Hopefully with the addition of the "softer" cars in the range, they'll produce a more hardcore version of the JCW hatch smile

I went to a BMW test day yesterday and drove the Countryman back to back with the regular hatch and the convertible.

Long story short, the countryman drives just like a normal mini. There's probably a touch more body roll, but the track is wider and longer so it's not a big deal. The ride is very similar and generally a rather good car.

They told us it would retail between £17k-£23k and the usual range is available inc Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper D All4, Cooper S, Cooper S All4.

I've heard it compares to the Golf in size, is that right? It's hard to gauge from pictures.

I'd say so yes, maybe a little smaller but not much. They had one at the Canary Wharf Expo and I had a nose around it.

Great - I'll try search you out - would like a sit for size if possible. What colour will it be?
