Can anyone give definitive information about how these gantry cameras operate? My understanding is that they are active only when a reduced speed limit--eg 60, 50, 40, 30-- is in operation and not at other times when the national speed limit (70) applies. Is this right? Is this also the case for gantry mounted cameras on the M25, M1 around J10 and J27, and the M42?

Didn't notice them until on the way back on the back of the gantries.
