In 1995, Goodyear produced a psoter showing all the F1 cars which had won a race on Goodyeaer tyres.

Of course, the title is not completeley accurate in that it also shows the Formula 2 cars which were the official World Championshiop cars in 1952 and 1953. The poster should really be titled - Drivers' World Championship Caqrs - 1950 to 2004.

And it's not complete (by a long chalk). Without looking too closely I can see that cars like the Porsches, the Aston Martin, the Trojan, the Eifelland and the Scarab are all missing. I am sure there are quite a few more.

A bit poor if there are no Porsches on there. They even won a race after all.

Yep - it was Autosport. I think Ford did a similar one around 1990 or so.

I've got the Cosworth DFV 150 wins poster hanging in my garage. They were chucking it away at work so I asked if I could have it.

It's on display in Redline Components' office in Caterham as well - along with selected Lotus F1 related posters .

Why is there no 1988 Ferrari?

ETA: Just realised the car name. It's called a Dallara F188, why is that?

Ferrari used the 1987 car the F187 during 1988 (updated to F188C spec later in the year) as it was the last year of turbo cars and I guess they put most of their time into the design of the new semi-automatic gearbox F640 car of the 1989 season. The Dallara is a separate car ran by BMS Scuderia Italia.

It's the sort of thing that draws disparate souls such as ourselves to places like PH cloud9

Sure it's spent the last 10 years or so in a box file with the Countach, 959, F40 and countless centre pull-outs and posters from Performance car and Autocar and Motorcar

The Goodyear poster was pretty accurate.

This current poster has loads of ommissions.

Well there's another 30 mins of just staring gone. Not often a pic does that to me. biggrin

Mine was thrown out by mum mum years ago. Sad thing is, as a kid you always assume there will be another one along soon, having no idea it was a one-off bit of memorabilia... frown

Some years ago now, I think in the 80s, I wrote to either Autosport or Motor Sport to point out their error in counting the Ferrari victories of 52 and 53 seasons in their 'F1 hall of fame' for constructors sort of thing. I received a letter giving what came over as a begruding 'thank-you for your comment'.

About a month later I got another letter which stated that F1 had in fact 'assumed' the F2 regulations but was still F1. It had the air of 'so there'. This generated me into a bit of research to try and prove them wrong but it was all very vague. The nearest I got was that F1 would be 'run to' F2 regs.

My feeling was that it could be taken either way but I felt that, on the balance of probabilities, my (and your) interpretation was correct.

So there.
