Woking - where for a pint & meal?

Morning all,

Tonight I'm meeting up in Woking with colleagues from Sweden & the US - they want to go for a pint and a meal.

My knowledge of Woking pubs is limited to places like O'Neills and the Wetherspoon so can anyone recommend a decent place within walking distance of the centre?

Nothing much in the centre of Woking IMO

There is Charlie Choys (mixed Asian Cuisine) and an Italian restaurant(cant remember name) just under Victoria Arch. Both quite good IMO for meals but not for a pint.

There is the 'Inn at Maybury' but its about 1 mile plus outside centre

As above, I've worked in Woking for 4 years and have always lived relatively locally. There are not many places in Woking centre that are worthy of going to. 15 mins walking distance from the centre will get you to The Red Lion in Horsell. Good food, decent atmosphere, a generally good pub. There are plenty of options within a 5-10 min drive from the town centre.

The Anchor in Pyrford is a very nice pub, especially if the weather is nice.

The Red Lion as above, or the Chinesse in Horsell is also really good.

I've been to an Indian in the town centre a few times that's pretty good, can't think what the name is right now though.

Is that the one thats got the nice 'patio' outside the front, nicely lit up at night?

That's quite a nice place to go to I'd imagine (Never been!) but as said, Woking isn't very good.

Definitely a good bet with the Red Lion. Used to take US colleagues there for a pint before we got bought out. They seemed to like it.

Another vote for the Red Lion in Horsell, great food and a very nice beer garden if the weather is nice. It is a bit of a trek from the town center though.
