I know they are all like that but...

There must be something I can do!
Passenger side mirror - all I get to look at is the sky. It's fitted correctly, in place on the motor and little lever slid across but I can get no decent view. The mirror moves when I move the stick on the door in all manner of directions except down far enough. Anyone got any bright ideas?
I know they are not good at best but I'm beginning to look like a biker checking over both shoulders before doing a manouvre.
Guess I could just drive like a rep, you know diagonal across 3 lanes from the slip road and stay in the outside lane and never move!

quote:Have you tried moving the mirror assembly, fairing and all? My mirrors originally were wayward pointing but I found that the mirror assembly had been moved (someone nudging it as they walked past or whilst washing the car - dunno which it was like that when I bought it!). There seemed to be several stable positions for the assembly on my car and that after a gently readjustment I could then use the electronic mirror controls to adjust correctly.

Cheers guys.
Major, you mean just pulling it outwards a bit? I did have a go but didn't want the bloody thing coming off in my hand! How hard do you have to pull?
Paul, Where is the post and what does it do, is it the bit the mirror clips on to? If it's the post that goes through the door that is really stable.

quote:Yes in a word, just twisting the fairing in to the next position and you don't have to pull too hard! Mine's 3 years old so don't know if they have changed (other than door opener switch). But I often move mine accidentally when washing the car. They seem to have an override lock mechanism i.e. sort of click (more of a dull thud) in to each position.
Cheers guys.

I don't want you to go twisting your mirror off either!

The post is part of the mirror, the week spot, you have to unscrew the mirror from the door and disconnect the mirror from the connector as that will not pull thro the hole (cut it and rejoin it later).
once you have it all off you will see the post it's the bit that holds the mirror to the bolt that screws into the door, the post also has three positions that the mirror can sit on the door with, this may need adjustment if this is the case you might be able to sort out the mirror without cuttling the lead to get the mirror of the door.
the grub screw may be loose also, but be carefull if you over tighten it the whole thig will brake when you fit it back onto the car.
If the base is broken you will see it, then you will have to cut the lead to get mirror off the car to dismantle things to replace it.
if you need any other info mail me@ putley@colt-telecom.com
