I got my wife a nice cooper s for a anniversary gift and she loved it we both did, but since having it and I have to say its just a second car for her she keep getting a bad back when she drives it. neither of us can get the lumber support in a nice position so this might be the issue.

Anyone else have the same issue or any ideas for a nice fix rather than selling.

I've got a Mini Cooper D which does not have a lumbar support in it. I do have existing back problems and this has been solved by getting something called the 'back friend' ( I can hear the giggling now !!). It is a portable back rest that has an adjustable back but keeps your spine in the correct position. I use mine in the Mini and the TVR and have had no problems with it. RRP £75, but well worth it. I've had no problems with my back since using it. Available to buy from Amazon.

First off, you can look at add-ons to the seat. Another option is to consider seat heating (my mother has a crumbling lower back and this helps).

Last option is to look at replacement seats.

If it is the lower back she has problems with the buying a seat roll may help. I get pain if I drive for more than about 50 miles or so. I use a seat roll that sits where the back and base of the seat meet. I have also found that lifting the legs by bending the knees on longer runs helps a lot.

My wife used to have a cooper S with a similar issue. We changed the standard run flat tyres to normal tyres and the problem went away.....

The difference in ride quality has to be experienced to be believed.

This is something I'm going to do when my tyres need changing.

I find the seats really comfortable in my R53. I'm quite tall so maybe that's why.
