Where can I buy machine finished stainless steel sheet from?

I'm after a quantity of stainless steel sheet to make a facia out of for my kitchen, however also with enough left over to make some finishing blanks for a friends project car.

I'd like to make this from the machine finished type of stainless steel that often gets used for kit and classic car dash boards.



Accepting that the above might be aluminium, and a home made job, where should I look to enquire about getting hold of some sheet material with this finish. My second choice would me a more normal brushed finished that is typical of a worktop in a restaurant kitchen.

Any links, or potential supplier companies that could help me would be massively appreciated.

By memory Frost do a tool to get that finish.

Fat piece of dowel, some valve lapping paste (fine) and a drill, start in top left corner and work systematically to the bottom right corner.

What material dowel are you suggesting? Turning a drill chuck size end onto a piece of wood / ali / steel ???
