3k p38 with LPG - am I mad?
Discussion
like a few others on here, I have an RR itch. I have recently changed jobs so only need a car to get me to the station and back (approx 10miles a day) and towing my sons kart at the weekend. So decided to sell my 55 diesel passat, save some cash and get a 3k station car
I just want a car I don't have to worry about where I park it, but equally gives me a bit of a luxury feel.
Seen a couple of P38's on the trader & fleabay now, usually 95-97 vintage with circa 100k and LPG for around £2500-3500.
Am i mad? are they really as bad as the horror stories I've read, and how do you tell a good one?
Other option is a Grand Cherokee or a ML around 99-2000 but can't help feeling i will always be "should have got the RR..."

Check the thread Range Rovers are they reliable thread. Not familiar with LPG but you're at the cheap end for P38s so do your homework. My DSE will be in the classifieds here shortly at your price range. My rationale when buying was to get a high miler as on that basis it's reliable!
Could you stomach going from 50mpg to 12mpg? Buy a good one and its fab, I had a 4.6 HSE with a brand new engine, receipt for £5.5k.
Mind you low deprecation, and if you are spanner capable you should be OK. Check wet carpets for leaking matrix o rings, front wheel bearings and pray the engine is a good one. The 4.0 is supposed to be more solid than the 4.6.

I bought one for similar station runs and only managed about 12mpg - as it never gets warmed up. I have a page showing the common things to look for hereCheck wet carpets for leaking matrix o rings, front wheel bearings and pray the engine is a good one.
