Buying watches on the internet can be a risky proposition. How would The Management feel about a list/wiki/whatever of links and descriptions of companies/dealers/etc that the residents of this forum generally trust and would recommend? It seems to me that we regularly get threads that go "This Neil bloke, at Chronomaster. Is he OK?" to which there is always the plethora of replies going "Yeah, top bloke" (or variations thereof).

Feel free to consign this thread to the internet bin if it's daft or contravenes the Ts & Cs.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
I reckon we'd only be able to suggest places that are good, I fear the opposite may contravene the 'naming and shaming' rules.

Absolutely.

Not for negative reviews; just for places/people we know are ace for feeding the addiction.

So it's been mooted before, and with a small but positive response....

We could go further and, where people are happy to, add a note next to each dealer for testimonials.

Nothing verbose: for Watch Seller X, PHer Y dealt with them and was satisfied and is happy to respond to PMs if people want more detail.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Surely the old issue of for every 100 positive you'll get one vocal negative. If it's a wiki the one disgruntled punter can/may remove the vendor or put negative comments which may contravene N&S rules.
Not saying it's a bad idea, just because there are potential issues doesn't mean it can't fly.

I like the fact that I can see "fordfiend101" who has a 1000 posts and has been here since 2007 can vouch for a company he has used. I'd be worried that companies would start fudging up positive reviews.
