Chassis number
Discussion
I just got my jago owners club application. I dunno where the chassis number is. Theres no plate and no sign of there ever having been one, my log book isnt back from dvla yet. Does anyone have a manual box and flywheel n clutch goin cheap? My geep has a 1300 xflow and auto box, but the box isnt changing properly and despite a full oil change and making sure everything else is ok I dont think its worth messin with any more. prefer Lancs area to save on carriage etc.Cheers, Dean
Hi
Yes Dave is correct in that the chassis number should be on the chassis strut top mount plate usually on the passenger side although for some reason some did end up with it on the drivers side.
If you are having problems getting a manual box and flywheel to convert it to stick shift then try ringing Ian Harwood on 0151 3392801 (he is a Escort breakers) or if you want to have a go on the Ebay site there are usually some Escort boxes going.

Thanks for that, faxed Ian, got my insurance quote from footman james, very reasonable at 109 quid, gonna look for that chassis number tomorrow. I even gave the old geep a polish, even if I cant get reverse drive LOL. Its got some land rover bits on it now, since I work as a landy mechanic, bet u all didnt know a landy front pipe can be cut to make a tailpipe and landy exhaust mounts fit hehe. Nearly ready for Mot, I cant say how great it is to work on a simple motor. I might even take it greenlaning
Re: the chassis number! im not sure but i think there might have been some chassis leave the factory without numbers!! my 2nd geep also doesnt seem to have a chassis number!! on the log book under chassis number it has the tub number because its all that could be found on the sva test!! had some fun tryin to get an MOT certificate without having the log book as proof of no chassis number!!
