Arrgh!

I cannot make up my mind: Sky HD or Freesat HD.

I don't ever watch sport or films on pay-per-view or subscription film channels (I'm a cheapskate and only watch films on the free channels).

Also has anyone managed to get a deal on the Sky £10 HD charge?

Thanks.

OK, it seems it will have to be Sky as Freesat does not transmit ITV1 HD in Scotland mad

There are at least two ways of getting ITV1 HD in Scotland.

The first is to use an English postcode when setting up so you get ITV rather than STV.
The second is to tune in non-Freesat stations, which may be different depending on the STB. My Panasonic TV can pick up all channels from the satellite, only unencrypted channels or be set to pick up small blocks of channels.

I don't know if channel 119 (non region specific ITV1 HD) is available in Scotland.

Ok........... If it is that easy then I'm interested in Freesat again.

So, Sky+ HD will cost me £19 (basic package) + £10 for HD. Freesat is, well, free, but how much will the equipment cost?

As I see it, Freesat only has the two HD channels (BBC and ITV) while Sky has (excluding sport) these plus Ch4 and 5 on the free lists. I'm not bothered by the other subscription channels.

I need to work out if the two extra HD channels on Sky are worth it.

OK, thanks. I'm getting really confused though.

I want what I have now, which is Sky+ but with HD. I'm happy to go to Freesat (more than happy, fed up of giving my money to Sky as I have been doing for the last nine years).

I only want to watch the main channels, which include STV being in Scotland and ITV HD.

Which box do I need please?

Also, what sort of audio is given out by these receivers?

I've the same quandary at the moment as we're moving house and the new place has Sky, however we currently have freesat and the associated bits and bobs. A slightly unrelated question but does anyone know if I'm going to need to change the dish / reposition the dish to get my kit to work as on the face of it I can't warrant paying for sky?
