"Every position of Rubik's Cube™ can be solved in twenty moves or less.
With about 35 CPU-years of idle computer time donated by Google, a team of researchers has essentially solved every position of the Rubik's Cube™, and shown that no position requires more than twenty moves."
There are lots of different algorythms for solving a Rubiks cube, but "Gods Algorythm" is the name given to the hypothetical perfect algorythm. It's now been proven, and is detailed on this site.. Pretty interesting, even if you've no interest in Rubiks cubes.

Makes you wonder why scientists haven't got anything better to do.
Hah, true, and although it does seem like a waste of time, there's likely lots of practical applications (not that I can think of any off the top of my head!). Perhaps things like using computational power to attack problems, network routing efficiency, etc.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
