Despite what Mr Clarkson may say I am contemplating a F430 F1 Spyder for my next mad purchase

Looking at a couple of '07 cars at the moment... from a spec/colour point of view one has caught my eye and I've just received the conidition report from the dealer (Ferrari main dealer)

Whilst it'll be supplied under the "approved scheme" I'm wondering if these items are the sign of a 'hard life' or known weaknesses - the car has about 11k on it, with 40% clutch wear (on supposedly the original clutch)

- Ex manifolds blowing (warranty)
- rear tie rods worn (warranty)
- front lower joints worn (warranty)

Also the car has the carbon ceramics - any issues with these?

Any thoughts, pointers would be appreciated

40% clutch wear is high for 11k it must have been a city car! Has it had LC used?
My CS has 10% @ 16k.

You can get a readout for the disc wear from dealer ask for it.

The ball joints are a known weak point and fail on 360 & 430 but if it is a city car (nice bumpy potholed roads!) that is why they will have failed @11k (I had a 360 Spider that had the ball joints done @10k and it was a London car my 360CS has never had them done and it is not a city car). Ball joints are no big deal.

Exhaust manifolds also a weak point on the 430.

Good luck with your search

Supposedly they should be changing the clutch if it's 40% worn as part of the approved warranty scheme, you should ask them about that. My 430 is at 16k miles and clutch is approx 26% worn.

I would probably give it a couple of months as the prices will dip in a while & it looks like you've missed the best of the weather anyway!!
I hear very few horror stories regarding 430's & mine has been great, as said before, ball joints (£800) can be weak but thats about it.. Main dealers are overpriced at this time of year IMO but i do understand that patience can be very difficult!!
Enjoy hunting smile

Thanks guys

Disc wear is 15% on the car.. what ever that means wink Are they able to get a report of the LC uses?

Hear what you are saying about the prices this time of year - will bear that in mind - prices do seem to be all over the place though, even at the official dealers - from low 100s to high-mid 80's... with not huge mileage/spec differences.... or at least as far as I can see...
