Last time I saw it, it was 87% in favour of removal.... and that was without our help!!!!
Poor old Mary Williams looked exhasperated, despite trotting out her usual lines about the mass slaughter of children being imminent!!
To the point about London Ambulance Service saying that humps are killing 500/year due to ambulance problems, she said something like, 'but if less people are being injured (by speeding cars), we'll need less ambulance journeys.' Strewth!
[Note: she used 'less' instead of 'fewer', not me.]
Penny Mallory was on 'our' side. Just didn't have any facts & figures.
I was really annoyed that Ms Williams didn`t mention the fact that we need more Traffic Patrol Officers on the road. She failed to mention that Traffic departments are being decimated across London as we continue to rely on Cameras and figures.
How on earth can we in Traffic educate and enforce when we have no one left in the department.
Last night to cover NorthWest London, there were three double manned cars and one motorbike, we spent all evening chasing calls and dealing with the consequences of bad driving rather than nipping it in the bud.
We need more Traffic Patrol NOT cameras to educate.

Thank you Will and Don. Absolutely right. I am all in favour of driver education and the encouragement of higher driving standards, then we can get rid of a good deal of this traffic calming and speed limit nonsense.

Hear Hear! Last sentence specifically. By the way, will, could you post this to a bloke called kev on Paulie safespeed's forum who thinks that the reduction of trafpols is "myth and rumour". My man (aka a Mad Moggie) had a pop at him last night over this very issue!
