Why are R34 GTRs so expensive compared to R33s?

They were produced for three years, like the R33, and some of the later ones are going for more than the R35 GTR. That's some supply and demand right there.

Yes, but due to the 10 year rule, not many have been imported. The R33's have flooded in.

Any car imported under 10 years old needs a Model report to get it through SVA.

That's what i thought. So is importing getting easier, due to most R34's being made in 1999/2000?

Hopefully it'll bring the price down a bit.

Good. I've been saving for a while now. Hopefully that'll make it easier to finally get one biggrin

The R34 is a far nicer car as well, especially with a do luck bodykit yes

I wouldn't want to change the look of a GTR much. Not a big fan of the Do Luck kit. I do like the NurSpec kit though. I'd have to try and get a copy of that from somewhere...

R34's took a hit in value a year or so ago, around the time of the 35 being launched officially in the UK. Now they have risen again.

The exchange rate has played a massive part, with the pound being weak they have become a more affordable car in Europe and more expensive to buy decent examples at auction in Japan. Less coming over here and more leaving the UK makes them all the rarer and push's the price up.

Sorry i hate the Do Luck kit- way to over the top. Has to be nismo all the way!

As for those going for more than a 35, they are rare and been for sale for a long time. There have been a couple of truely special 34's that have commanded a high price tag and for the right reasons.

Nur Specs look no different. Do you mean Z-Tune?

I was offered a 1999 Bayside blue good grade GTR with 60k miles on for just £16000 from an importer I use back at the end of 2008. I would of had to keep the car in my garage for 4 months to avoid the SVA, so I never bothered I bought an E46 M3 instead.
I wish I had now as they seem to be fetching over £20000 even now. Doh!

I thought the ten year rule did not apply any more and all you need is the jap MOT or is that yet another myth.

All the nismo aero items fitted to the Z Tune are available to any one in frp, the bonnet is the only item available in carbon- if you can afford the prices.

You mean in looks or performance?

The 34 probably looks a bit prettier but it's not that much different from the 33 as a car.

But less were made and the 34 was probably the ultimate (and last) incarnation of the straight-6 (skyline) formular of the 32/33/34 before Nissan split off with the V35 formula and R35...one a luxery and the other a supercar line both using V6 motors. It's kind of iconic also 'cos of the fast & furious association.

For the best bargain I'd pick up a late R33 GTR though. Similar drive as I said and these cars are modded lots.
