Longitudinal V engines can have 2 backboxes, irrespective of power.

4 pipes is a little pointless as it's just 2 "pipes" out of one backbox. If necessity means that it needs a BIG pipe out of a backbox, then 2 may be acceptable to stop the big one looking like some ricer crap.

1 pipe per cylinder only if it's some side exit classic or hot rod sillyness
