Cleaning V6 idle speed control valve

Hi,

Please can someone give me some tips on cleaning the idle speed control valve on a V6? I think mine is sticking because although the car usually idles at the correct RPM sometimes it seems to prefer to idle at 1200ish.

I tried cleaning the valve before using kitchen roll and brake cleaner but obviously did n't do a good job.

take the valve off then remove the two screws that hold the slonoid on to the valve. vlean the inside with brake cleaner, hold the operating rod in to open the valve so that you clean the seat as well. Let it dry out then put it back together.

Make sure you have no air leaks when you put the valve back on to the plenum - you cam make a new gasket from thin card - I used a business card as a temporary gasket, it's been in there for 6 years!

Also make sure the electrical connector is clean.
