60 Hour Restorative Detail of a Ferrari F40

...it's the straightening of the radiator coils (about two thirds of the way down) that get me.

Thanks for posting that, amazing detail gone into it. The plastic (?) strip above the intakes at the front ruin the lines though.

As far as I can tell the key is to write out the full name of every product you use and turn it into a link, create a pseudo casual name for it and refer frequently to it later on, giving the impression that this is common knowledge as opposed to the complete bks that it actually is

A good friend of mine did this one recently. I've had my last two cars done by him, fantastic service and finish.

I really don't have the time for this kind of glorified cleaning, although I appreciate that others seem to find it fascinating - as evidenced by the mind-numbing blogs that always accompany such exercises.

As far as the 'paint correction' is concerned, they seem happy to remove a good proprtion of what little paint the car has in places but aren't interested in fixing paint dribbles (on the basis that they're Ferrari dribbles).

I don't imagine F40 owners would bat an eyelid at the cost of a full respray - which would give an even overall paint depth and offer a better finish than Ferrari bothered to give it. Why not do this instead?

Impressive attention to detail; my first thought was that the whole thing is a bit overkill.

But then I remember how much I always wanted an F40 and if someone is wealthy enough to afford one and get this done then they are putting money in the pocket of the working man.

I wouldn't imagine new paint would affect the value much either way - they're not exactly rare cars in Ferrari terms. Now that they're removed some of the original paint, it'll probably need respraying anyway by the time it's garnered another layer of scratches because there's not enough paint left to 'detail' it again.

I always think that the F40 is businesslike Ferrari, not a polish fetishists toy, full on, lairy and a bit rough and ready, I remember reading that you can see the carbon weave through the paint, it did look good after its polishing but it looked good before, a bit of Patina, like the Millenium Falcon !

I think this super detailing is just paid therapy for the obesssive compulsive, like people with small poncy dogs that spend hours cleaning and grooming them and going into shock when it rolls in some mud, an F40 is not the Pekinese of the Car world, its a bloody Doberman !

A fair few F40s were stripped and repainted when new because their nouveau riche owners saw it as a flaw. Offended the purists as I recall.
