Poor little car.

What is it about these cars that appears to attract people who crash them? It's not like there are thousands on the roads.....

I just got back from holidaying in Italy and one of my stops was Marenello on the 4th. The video looked like the back streets there, so went looking through my pics as I remember taking a pic of a 458 driving by the factory. As I thought its the same car as the video.

Edit: On this size of image you cannot see the numberplate but on the original, you can see its the same car.

I was also watching the track through the fence, and there was a very very quick 458 going round the track - it looked like a Scuderia type prototype but I could not get any decent pictures, it was THAT fast.

The car belongs to a rental company in Maranello across the road from the factory. They also own the yellow Scud and hire the cars out by the hour.

  • shakes out my piggy bank * * rummanges down the back of the leather suite * * defrost the credit card *
500 Euros (plus IVA?) seems pretty cheap for an hour's drive. But terms and conditions nowhere to be seen as excess charges can be an issue.

According to a US member of F Chat who has hired a car from these people the insurance excess for an hour's rental was $10,000.

Ouch! I had a funny feeling about the question of excess, and thanks for confirming my fears.

I saw this crash, at least the aftermath, the Marlow one. Unfortunately I was running seriously late so couldn't go around the roundabout for another look but thought "No way is that a 458's behind I can see!" (should have only been able to see the front from that angle). Could see a HATO patrol too plus cones etc.

Big shame that the first 458 I see in the metal is smashed frown
