Help needed with Non-EU import

Dear Forum,

First of all, this is my 1st post, so hello and thanks in advance for responses to my issue -

I am importing a Non-EC vehicle from Dubai to the UK, on blue export plates. Its a Toyota FJ Cruiser.

The car is arriving in early September, and I am trying to determine whether it is possible to drive the vehicle on its blue export plates, and for how long, before I have to take it for its SVA test and DVLA registration.

Are there insurers out there who will issue a cover note for export plates?

Hello, not sure if is helps but we (Adrian Flux) can insure imported vehicles on a chassis number for up to 30 days then it needs to be UK registered.

Good stuff - so I take it from that article that it IS possible to insure temporary export plates - if the insurer covers the VIN number

So... does anyone know of an insurer that will cover a VIN number?

Not to my knowledge - perhaps rules are different for EC imports?

I think the blue UAE export plates are valid for 3 days or something - in Dubai
