Jacqueline Griffiths was driving down Wern Ddu Lane in Newtown, Mid Wales - a single-track road which is used only for access to homes - when she met resident Karen Gorman-Hawkins coming in the opposite direction.
Refusing to move - and with the ever-present threat of cold dessert fusion lingering over the stand-off - Griffiths apparently drove headlong into the other woman's 4x4, the Shropshire Star newspaper reports.
Welshpool magistrates heard that the defendant's actions were prompted by the fact that "it was nearing teatime" and she needed to get home before any refrigerative mishap could take place.
Gorman-Hawkins proceeded to phone both her mother and police for back-up, though events took a turn for the worse as the older woman arrived. With Griffiths preparing to flee the scene, the mother stood in the way of her car, preventing her escape.
With proceedings apparently poised on a thermodynamic knife-edge, Griffiths then threatened to run over Gorman-Hawkins' mother, manoeuvring her vehicle until it rested up against the woman's leg, then fleeing before police arrived.
Later, in an interview with officers, Griffiths explained that her behaviour was caused by the fear of the ice cream payload getting warm.
Having previously admitted dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident, Griffiths, of Penarron Drive, Kerry, was banned from driving for 12 months.
She was also handed an 18-month community order, and told to pay £85 costs.
