My Tuscan has been sat for the last 4 weeks while I've been travelling.
Not unexpectedly the battery doesnt seem to have enought to start her up.
Enough to unlock, drop windows, etc. etc.
So, I think, no problem connect jumper leads to wifes car and get a bit of power back in.
BUT no ?

Connected up, checked volts reading 13,7V and left for 10 minutes, tried and didnt seem to help.
Checked volts - now only 12V ?
Checked connections, again back up to 13,6V and try again.
Volts back down to 12V ?? check connections, cant see any reason for bad connection but still only 12V ?

Could this be a fault with the battery ???

Thanks,
Tony.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. I ended up calling out the AA. The guy who came got it started by taking off the front wheel so he could attach his jump leads directly to the battery. He reckoned the lead between the battery and the anderson connector under the car wasn't sufficient for jumping the car when the battery was almost flat - it was only suitable for trickle charging.

He also said that the battery he jumped it from had a high rating as you need quite a lot of power to turn a 4 litre engine.

Apologies for the non-technical answer!

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I connected direct to the battery as I think there is a corrosion problem with the Anderson connector.
Tried to bumb start it this afternoon but appart from some explosive pops she didnt want to start.
I've got a spare battery and a booster start on charge tonight but not too hopeful, seems a bit strange.

Want to drive to Germany in her next week.

So, when I try to turn her over, seems to me plenty of battery umph but starter not engaging then there is a load bang ?
Sounds like a backfire but cant be as engine hasnt turned.

Is it the starter motor with a short and blowing itself up ?
Anyway, rather than risk a fire she's going to hospital.

Nice day not to drive yesterday wasnt it !!!
