just thought I would share a couple of quick recommendations

Sushi Hiro. It's been mentioned here before (maybe I heard about it here?). It is as good as its reputation. I don't normally eat sushi in this country any more but I will be going back to Hiro in the future.

Koya. Very good food, very good value. Try the onsen tamago! No booking possible.

Franco Manca. Not japanese, and quite well known, but wow, i've never had a pizza like it (the dough specifically). worth waiting in a queue for.

this is literally 100m form my parents flat, but i've never eaten there. The menu looks nice though, although as you know, the best japanese restaurants tend to specialise in one thing!

Asakusa in Camden....proper hidden gem.

Yeah some japanese friends of mine really rate asakusa. They had torisashi there once, which means the chef has to know what he is doing...

OOooh, sounds great and just down the road... will try that I think!

It's great in there, always go with my old housemate (she's Japanese and rates it very highly). The food is authentic, tasty and good value. Lots of nice sake too. You need a booking nowadays though.

The Brewer St one used to be a (very) regular haunt of mine, the chicken teryaki don is incredible...

At the other end of the scale, kanzoko on kingley street. Avoid at all costs.
