Bottom end of the M1 - how bad?

I know there are road works at the M25 end of the M1, but how bad are they at the mo? I'm likely to have to hit it southbound tomorrow (Sunday) evening which I imagine will be awful...

No problem at all these days sir, and even on a Sunday evening it should be ok.

Here's a hint - where it goes to 5 lanes stay in lane 1 and 2. The MLM's naturally gravitate to 3 and 4, and 5 is normally full of pricks sitting 30cm away from each other, which leaves lanes 1 and 2 perfectly clear for a smooth cruise

as above, lots of cameras in the road works, some have small signs saying not in use, but even when doing 45 approaching the cameras the brain deads stand on the brakes

in theory if the rain holds off Sunday evening is the best time to use Lower M1 / M25

Yup lol.

There are no roadworks at the bottom end of the M1 anymore.

There are roadworks a bit further up the M1 though, 50mph limit with SPECS roughly between Milton Keynes and Luton if I remember correctly. They shouldn't be too bad on a Sunday evening though.

There are roadworks on the M25 too mate (not sure if you are going on it?) , again 50mph SPECS section.

Thanks for the advice chaps - had a nightmare, my satnav told me I was off the coast of Portugal (really!) so I was guessing where I was going, missed the M1 exit, and ended up using the A41 and country lanes up to Milton Keynes. Had so much fun came back that way this evening as well!

There's some nice country roads around there, I used to drive on the A507 to get to Milton Keynes, that was much nicer than sitting on the M25 and M1!
