Revealed: Morgan Eva GT

Tech specs and images of Morgan's new coupe

Morgan has finally revealed full technical details and 'proper' images of its new Eva GT super-coupe - even as the car itself is on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.

The Eva GT uses the same bonded aluminium chassis technology that underpins the Morgan Aeromax. The swoopy Eva will be more spacious than other recent Morgans, however, and will be a pukka 2+2 with space (claims Morgan) for four adults. Its rear hatch also opens to a large boot.

But that's not the interesting bit - because up front there's a twin-turbo 3.0-litre BMW straight six with 302bhp, connected to a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels.

Morgan reckons that the 1250kg car - which has spent three years under development using BMW facilities for high speed testing and hot weather sign-off - will be good for 4.5secs 0-62mph, with a top speed of 170mph, and fuel consumption of 40mpg.

Morgan Motor Company is taking orders now - provided you can stump up £5000 as a deposit to ensure an early build slot - and the first 100 cars should hit the Morgan production line sometime in mid-2012.

That is a stunning piece of design, looking hyper-modern and classical altogether.
Could come straight out of a film noir steampunk movie.

lovin' it!

If that 40 mpg figure isn't under unrealistic driving conditions then some large companies have a lot of catching up/explaining to do! Stunning effort! thumbup

I'm not liking the front much, to be honest. The rest is very nice.

Stunning looking concept. Well done Morgan, let's hope it sells well and then maybe they can consider speeding up their production lines!

Good old Morgan - the advantage with them is that they mine a narrow niche and can afford to keep to concept designs rather than water them down to broaden appeal like the majors.

Mad buggers, good luck to them.

Very nice!

No mention on price though, Im guessing north of £150,000.

...and at that price I would expect something a bit more special under the bonnet than BMW's 3.0 twin turbo. Why not the M3's V8 or even the new M5's engine?
