Great Britain

During one of my many daydreaming moments I found myself thinking about what would be my ideal garage and to my surprise it was an entirely British affair.

For a daily drive I'd have a Jaguar XFR, a weekend plaything would be a Lotus Elise and for modelling my ever expanding Barbour collection it would be most likely be a Defender.

This isn't due to some sort or patronising 'buy British even although the product is crap' attitude but one of a genuine desire to own some fantastic, capable cars.

And yes, I do realise the ownership of thoses companies isn't entirely 'ideal' but I'm sur we can overlook that

I'd go along with that. British cars fit my needs perfectly and it's not based on some blind patriotic BS. Disco 4 and an old XKR seem to compliment each other perfectly. All I need is a Caterham and I'll have everything I want.

Lots of manufacturers make cars here - are they all british too? How about that "british" Civic, CR-V, Note, Quashqai, Auris or Avensis?

No, not the Quashquai, they can keep that horrible thing.
I'd say they were British built.
I'd say where a company was founded, by whom, where the engineering and design takes place (and by whom), where the vehicles are based and where they are based all have a bearing on the provenance of a manufacturer.
Ownership of the company plays a part of course, but I'd not say it was the be-all and end all of it.
A question of degrees I think.
But you may not agree, which is fair enough.
