Cerbera Chipping update?

It seems to have gone rather quiet on the remapping of Cerberas front. Has anyone had this done yet? I'm sure there must be loads of people waiting, cheque books in hand with baited breath for the 1st dyno plot.

The Emerald unit has been available for a month or so now.
I purchased an Emeral ECU last week it should be arriving this week and then I can see what gains I can get.
The Emerald unit has the ability to be easily upgraded for traction control should you want it!

I meant the remapped existing chip, though Emerald results would be just as interesting. I saw the 1st emerald results (on a 4.5 RR) but that car was especially well mapped to start off with so I hear.
Are you getting yours mapped on the rolling road at Emerald or just using a generic map?

I need a rolling road capable of measuring the power the car will be putting out and unfortunatly Emerald doesn't have one!
There are a few places with them but I don't know how good they are!

You're a brave man pushing the AJP that far!! Any chance of a Sprint article when you're done? How do they map Nitrous cars by the way? I thought (naively) that the the car would be mapped without NOS first?
Why not push it further? nobody seems to have done it like this yet unless I'm wrong! If anyone has I'd like to hear from them.
My last car ended up with 480bhp out of a 3.0L V6 so cant see any problems with the AJP. I've not heard any stories of them being soft or having and major internal problems.
Eh and well there will be a little bit of the car in the May edition!
The system can be mapped by throttle position, revs and fuel pressure. Then the progressive controller can determine the power output, timing and duration.

There's a difference between knowing the AJP doesn't have any significant weak points, and proving it! As you said, you're the first. It's great that people are starting to extract more power and I wish I had the cash to do the same (knowing the cost of getting it wrong could be a new engine!). Good luck, I really hope you get the power you want and it proves reliable so us sheep can follow!
Darren.
Craig not sure you'll be the first with NoS in a cerb, there is another purple one with it fitted which has been runing for over a year now AFAIK.
Re RR power capacity, have a chat with Paul at Austec, their current RR takes 350hp at the wheels, it is to be upgraded fairly soon to 600hp.
Re the internals of the AJP V8, the racing tuscans have really put the miles on the engine development, but AFAIK they make about 450 ponies in NA trim, what sort of figure you going to wind yours up to
.
Might be worth a friendly chat with the factory or Dom at TVR Power to ask what the maximum designed figures are for the internals.
They seem OK in the low to mid 400's as stated above there will obviously be a safety margin on that, just thought it would be nice to know where you are going in that margin though
.
Harry
You'll have to take me for a spin when its done

I know I'm not the first to run one with NOS. Campbell has a 60 shot in his and the carisma one has the capability to run 125bhp.
I don't know if anyone else has done 150+
As for a safety margin I really don't care if I blow it up then I'll raise my hand and say I
ed up! Then I'll set about rebuilding to a higher spec!
I've heard about the 600bhp project and would love to see it when its complete.
Joolz and APM I'm told are looking into doing what I've done. only with the Austec chip and not the Emerald unit on one of their cars.

Gentle reminder I WANT THE AUSTEC CHIP!!! Come on Paul.
RE rolling road, have you looked into the dyno at Abbey Motorsport, they're a skyline specialist and from all accounts have a very good dyno that measures at the hub. I know they've gone up to at least 700+bhp.
Thanks I've heard they are quite good with the Jap stuff I'll give them a call.

I was about to suggest this. It actually measures up to 1200bhp at the hubs, so plenty for us mortals. Also G Force can measure at least 778bhp at the wheels coz they mapped Andy Barnes' R34.
I would lean towards the dynapack hub dyno since the car doesn't move around when you do a power run, and the thought of a light car like a cerbie wobbling around on rollers is worrying for me.
As well as Abbey there is a firm called Thor who have the same equippment (www.thor-racing.co.uk).
just spoke to austec .. still waiting on the update to teh rolling road, should be in the next 2 weeks though
so then paul can finish the full throtle mapping and get a before and after power run.
the emerald is the only other option except the DTA.
If you decide to go emerald and can't wait then tell Dave at Emerald i sent you .. is good for business relations
I know i'm biased but i'd quite like to keep this in the TVR-specialist field so woud still urge people to keep with the MBE remapping, but then as I say : I stand to make a tenner out of this so I woud say that wouldn't i ??

Excellent. As a matter of interest, are you going to strengthen the transmission? Not sure how much more torque you'll make, but presumably the lower gears/diff will get a workout.

Personally, I'm planning on waiting until there's a fair comparison between the two. I must admit, there's a certain part of me that wants the Austec's solution to be better because of the work that he's put in and the cheek of doing something TVR have tried to prevent anyone from doing!
