Hi, i was driving along yesterday, was on my to the yorkshire dales, when i noticed some steam coming out of the bonnet.. turns out theres a pin prick hole in one of my heater hoses(the one closest to the cas.. Problem is i need to get the car back home(liverpool) before i can get some new hoses..
Is there a quick fix i can do that would get me home? e.g. would duct tape hold it? or is there somewhere in leeds that sells silicone hoses on the cheap?
probably won't be able to respond as i have no internet in my house, but i can check replies on my phone, so any advice would be welcome!
also where is the cheapest place to get good quality silicone hoses? as i'm thinking of replacing the lot as the car keeps springing leaks!

www.mx5parts.co.uk sell the full set (in different colours if you like)
Hi Thanks for all the replies, ive duct taped it for now, but i highly doubt it will make it make to liverpool, as even after a 5 min journey of slow driving makes the tape start to melt.. I'll have a fish around for some hoses tape or i might just be better getting the broken pipe off an trying to fix it outside my house, before i make the trip back!
Is mx5parts the cheapest for the silicone hoses?
cheers

It requires some disassembly of other components to get the hose off. So I would get the car home (somehow?) before taking apart.
I bought heater hoses from mx5parts - at the time I couldn't find cheaper. It is also likely that the CAS O Ring is failing and slowly leaking oil on to the heater hoses thus causing the failure. So I would replace that at the same time .... although I have only replaced the hoses at the moment and must change the CAS O ring!!
Didn't take to long to replace - but is very awkward...

. Yer, I was going to get the cas o ring replaced. Is there anywhere in Leeds or near Leeds that could just fit the heater hose an o ring just so I can get it back.. I've got no tools at all here an would rather not risk it over heating on the motorway. Seeing as the car is taking nearly a litre of coolant for 5min journeys. An how much would it roughly cost,if I provide the parts? I bought heater hoses from mx5parts - at the time I couldn't find cheaper. I havent lived in Leeds for over ten years so cannot make any recommendations. Shouldn't cost a fortune - probably about one hours labour for the heater hoses.
You could leave the o ring until you get back to Liverpool and do it yourself.
Someone with local knowledge should pop along soon...

Hi, yer thanks for all the help,it's been very helpful :thumbup; . anyone know if the rest of the hoses are easy to fit? Think I will just get the heater hoses done for now, just so I can actually use my car. As above if anyone can recomend a good garage in the Leeds sea, that would be great. Thanks!
If your East of Leeds, Toll bar garage in Gaforth is my local independent place, typical gruff staff but they are honest and well priced.
I'd suggest you try something like this -

rather than just normal duct tape.

Autolink do a pretty good value hose kit IIRC...
The hoses that autolink supply are pattern parts, they do the job not the best of fits and they are not very flexible! When i replaced the heater matrix pipes with the autolink ones i had to saw about an inch off the end of both of them to get a better fit.
Update. . Used hose repair tape on it. Worked well for day.. Now it's pissing coolant just as badly as before.. Ordered a set of hoses from demontweeks.. Only to find a two week wait.. Should have just gone for the mx5parts set really, but salvo hoses for the same price seemed the better choice .. We'll see anyway...thanks for all the help from everyone!
