Name That drive shaft join

A friend is asking the name of a joint on his 1.4 Citroen Saxo Furio for one reason or another. I don't have a clue but figured this would be the best place to find out. It is connected to the drive shaft but apparently he has been told on good authority it is not a CV joint.

Can anyone advise?

CV just means "constant velocity" which that joint certainly is.

It is a CV joint but not the normal multi ball type that most will be familiar with.

That look very much like a CV joint to me... as a previous poster pointed out a CV is just that, a joint under constant velocity. doesn't matter about the internal make up.

Lokks to have more in common with the "tripode" type joint seen on earlier Sierras with push in driveshafts.
My kit car has this type of joint.
It is "constant velocity" in operation.

it looks like a non-plunging tripod joint.

Tripods are usually plunging type and used on the inboard and of driveshafts.

they are more efficient than traditional lobro types (ie. ones with balls), although usually limited on absolute drive angles.
