Taking missus away on Thursday and need some tips as my last visit to Paris was about 10 years ago.

Something classy for Thursday (the birthday) and something fun and typically French for next 2 evenings and/or lunch. Needs to be fairly central.

Lots of restaurants seem to close in August but have emailed a reservation for Le Meurice for Thursday but may not get in.

So over to the les PH massive

For classy :

L'Ambroisie (Place Des Vosges)
Alaine Ducasse @ Hotel Plaza Athenee
Taillevent (Rue Lamennais)
Jules Verne @ Tour Eiffel (Get your own private lift up)
Le Grand Vefour (Rue De Beaujolais)

For french brasserie / Lunch etc:

Willi's wine bar (Rue Des Petits-champ) Great for good, well priced wines.
Le Moulin de la Galette (www.lemoulindelagalette.fr) In Montmatre Good place to waste an afternoon.

been a while for me in Paris but i always used to like Bofingers Bistro opposite the Opera House on Bastile.

It certainly used to be about as Parisienne as you could get back then.

Refuge des Fondus
Great fun, you have the choice of meat or cheese fondue and whether you'd like white or red wine (served in baby bottles!) Quality food, reasonable price. Super fun.

Brasserie Lipp
Super traditional brasserie in St Germain. Great service, lovely food. Perfect for lunch in the centre.
