Can anyone with a carbon airbox tell me if they hold water when you wash the car or it rains like the standard box?

I didn't know that there was a problem with the airboxes holding water? How serious is the problem and does it tend to affect all speed six engines?

I noticed this a few years back, when I kept washing the car, I would wash dry it off clean the windscreen drive off down the road and lot of water would spray up all over the windscreen. I washed it again and checked under the bonnet and the water sits in the airbox and I had to blot it with some paper towell.

At the weekend at the BSG the car sat in the rain and before I drove off I checked the airbox and it was full of water again.

ps thought i told you about airbox they look good but a bit expensive not sure if they make a great difference and they do fitt better

Hi,
Just washed the car and checked my carbon air box and contrary to my first post I can confirm that water collects at the points Lensey has indicated.
Simply used my chamois leather to soak up the few ccs of water and `Hey Presto´ no spray on the screen when I drive off from the Waschstrasse.

Its not so much the water collecting in it when I wash the car that I'm worried about, as you said its easy to soak this up its just the fact that when the car is left in the rain it collects in it, there is also a screw where the water sits and I'm a bit worried about it seeping through that. I suppose I thought for the cost of the CF airbox this may have been considered and modified in some way?
