Ok - call me a 'tard, an idiot or anything else you like but I MUST be missing something. Let me explain:

I purchased a box of 18 beef and a box of 18 chicken oxo cubes as below:

(Excuse dodgy phone pics)

So you would expect 18 individual stock cubes in each - yes?
No....

The chicken had a box of 12 and 6 individual cubes??

So the Beef - the same?

Nope

A box of 12 and a box of 6......!!?!?!?!

As said am I missing something here - do I need to get out more? I just thought 18 indivdual cubes in each box in these days of keeping packaging to a minimum etc etc.
Mrs Mcg1 says there are more important things in life to worry about - guess she is right but I get annoyed by these little life things!!!

You can probably buy a boxes of 6,12 and 18 cubes.

It is most likely easier to just put a prepacked box of 6 and 12 in another bit of cardboard than spending a whole load of money on a new machine that fills boxes of 18. The 18 boxes are quite possibly made up by hand as not that many are sold possibly.

As to why the chicken one has the 6 unpacked cubes is probably they came to the end of the run and had run out of boxes of 6 so just gabed a few loose cubes and stuffed them in.

I can just imagine the OP in Tescos pausing mid-aisle, looking left, right, then rifling through the OXO boxes muttering away to himself.

OP Please report your findings. biggrin

The vegetable ones have also recently been packaged in a similar way. I was equally befuddled!

Yes, you are missing something.

Learn to cook and you'll have no need to use them.
