Bellamy to.....Cardiff. So very wrong on so many levels.
Discussion
1. Harry is right, waste of talent dropping to the Championship
2. Cardiff are clearly not paying his wages, City are
3. Should this be allowed?
I'm not so sure about this one. City are effectively giving him away to Cardiff so no-one in the Prem can have him. Cardiff are virtually bankrupt, owe other clubs plenty of money yet somehow can still take a top Prem player on loan? This upsets the Championship applecart somewhat.

Tend to agree...though I guess he's MC's asset, so if the player's OK going, what's the beef?Football is f
ked.If Cardiff's finances are screwed, the FA should deal with that in isolation.
The FA rules on club finances need strengthening IMO, but then what can you do - these are often "normal" companies, and I guess should be left to be run as such (for better or worse). While ever rich backers and the banks are prepared to lend them the money, it'll continue. It will take a fair number of them going bust to really change things. At which point the English league risks going the way of the Scottish one (or any number of Euro leagues) where only one or two can win anything.
Just like life in general I guess

I just hope this Motherwell fiasco comes to light and the bailiffs close cardiff.
Cardiff are betting everything on them getting promotion this season. What with the 40 million if they go up. Followed by the 60 million parachute payments when they come back down, that would be their finances sorted.
Football is a mess. The only way to do well seems to be getting millions into debt and avoiding the tax man. Then clubs trying to do it the old fashion way are struggling.

Well I for one am delighted
As for fair - is it fair that Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool etc are able to run with enormous debts or purely due to the wealth of their foreign benefactors? At the end of the day clubs operate within a set of regulations (and within the legal framework) and each one gets away with what they can.
Which is exactly what Cardiff have done. And as far as being virtually bankrupt, Cardiff are 30% owned by a bloke worth 800 million quid, so they're no more bankrupt than some of the examples I've mentioned above.
Swansea have been into admin twice, and would probably have ceased to exist were it not for the fact that ten point deductions did not apply at the time (something my Jack friend above has failed to mention). Motherwell went into admin owning £8m, something their Chairman neglected to mention when ranting about Cardiff earlier (the fact that Zoom Air, the airline he ran, failed owing lots of money slipped his mind too - he's obviously a forgetful chap.)
It's good fun reading all the outrage though.

Sort of knew this would happen, so here's my 2p worth.
Bellamy has clearly been told he's no longer wanted by Man City. Whether the rumours that Man city didn't want him going to another Prem club or not are true, the probability is that Bellamy said ok, i'll go out on loan but i'm not losing out financially. Apart from the Prem clubs, Cardiff, Celtic and Wolfsburg show interest, Bellamy tells MC that ideally he'd like to stay in the UK - Cardiff infact, if something can be done with his wages. MC board members agree to pay most, maybe all of his wages so he can go back home and play, Bellamy gets to play for his home town club, has to drop down a division, but doesn't lose out financially and MC are happy that he hasn't joined one of their rivals. (Other clubs covering a players wages when he goes on loan elsewhere has happened many times before and will continue to happen - that's football).
Football wise, its a great signing - i do wonder where he's going to play and who's going to lose out, but no doubt it will give the other players a boost and maybe it'll convince the others that better times are ahead and we won't lose the likes of Chopra, Whittingham etc.
Financially, i've got no idea what's going on down there. The Malaysians that came in last season ploughed 6m in at the end of last season, but have done sweet FA since. Clearly there's a distinct lack of money at the club and its unknown how much is coming in and all they're saying is, "we're working on it"!
Having just watched the earlier report on SSN with the Motherwell chairman, i'm quite disgusted at the way its all been handled. Brilliant news to see Bellamy sign, but what the hell's going on financially i don't know. Either way, they need to sort it out before the club's name and reputation is tarnished any further.
Bloobird - excellent post and a lot of very valid points!

Not really, City would be willing to let him go on loan to 'most' championship clubs I would imagine, and he wants to go on loan to Cardiff.2. Cardiff are clearly not paying his wages, City are

Football is f

Unless I've not read the situation correctly, I cant spot the difference really?

The fact that one of the shareholders has got £800mil means absolutely bugger all....there are plenty of football clubs that have got wealthy owners or shareholders, not all of them write cheques to keep clubs afloat and history is littered with examples of times when these people get bored (Alan Sugar at Spurs being a classic example). If those shareholders don't want to put any more cash in the club it may go bust and they may lose their equity but it may not....I can 99.9% guarantee you there is nothing in the shareholders agreement compelling any shareholder to put money into the club. There will no doubt be huge amounts of press about this and how what Man City are doing with Bellamy is morally wrong but lets face it I don't think anyone complained when Leeds kept paying a decent % of Robbie Fowler's wages at Man City(how times have changed).
Wish he'd come back to Norwich. Reminds me when we snapped up Huckerby in 03 and can see Bellamy having the same effect, scoring plenty and leaving loads on a plate for the likes of Chopra and co...
Havent got any real problem with the deal if city are paying his wages, it is a bit galling when a club that has had the financial problems they've had sign a player like that, especially with Ridsdales history, but i'm just jealous more than anything.

I was hoping that City would send Bellamy and a few other loanees to help Blackpool to stayup and hopefully take a few points off our rivals. They've struggled to bring players in so it would have been ideal for some of our youngsters to get Prem experience. They might not get in the team now though after last weekend

well I'm a Cardiff fan and delighted
I think we'll be seeing lots of......Chopra neatly back to Whittingham, whittingham beats one, passes to Koumas, cheaky chip over the top from Koumas to the electric Bellamy who's been looking for his 3rd, skins defender 1, 2 and 3......GOAL!!!!!
As for some of the above comments about wishing we get closed down are stupid to say the least. All football clubs are debt ridden. And why would MC want to sell him to their main competitor (spurs)??? Clubs have been avoiding to sell players to other clubs for years.
Sour grapes?

Good point re Fowler too - if only Leeds had been paying his wages when we had the useless git.
