Hi all,

I would really appreciate some advice: I am looking to spend about £2k on an engagement ring. I think I want a single diamond in a solitaire style platinum band (something simple, elegant and maximises the light going through the diamond).

My question is: can I do any better than the following for my money?

From Blue Nile:

- diamond: LD01518262
- Setting: Platinum Six-Claw Solitaire Engagement Ring Setting - Stock #: 7214

I'm not sure I like the Blue Nile setting - it's hard to tell from the pictures, but it was about the best of the ones they offer.

Thanks in advance.

Speak to Nightmare or Lord Summerisle on here. Howard (Nightmare) has just sorted me out with a fantastic engagement ring for my (now) Fiancé. I designed it and he sourced me a diamond and then had his business partner make the ring. I paid not much more than your budget for it, although I went for white gold rather than platinum, so you'll have to go for a smaller diamond as platinum is quite a bit more expensive.

Some pics, not the best shots as they don't show off just how stunning the diamond is, but gives you an idea of what I had done.

^^^^ I like that. OP, purchase a Zircon and, if things are still going swimmingly in five years, purchase the good stuff. wink

Thanks for your post! May I ask what cut / carat etc that diamond is?

Sure, it's a .7 carat, F colour, SI1 clarity and has an excellent cut, symmetry and polish according to my nice little certificate.

Hmmm - can't see any indication of cut grade? When I click on the certificate it just gives a sample photo.
