I'm thinking about buying a 3 series (330 M Sport) in Phoenix Yellow. Am I likely to have a problem when it comes the time to move it on?

I think it might be one of those colours that traders look at and then suck their teeth........................

Sure it's Phoenix Yellow? I don't think I've ever seen a Phoenix Yellow 330 (it's an M3 colour).

It will be a bit of a mare to shift, but if you like the colour it's worth a shot as you'll be able to take advantage of this.

If it turns out to be an 'Arizona Sun' 330i saloon, I could tell you some stories about it.

No, it's definitely Phoenix Yellow........... I'd never seen any Beemer in this colour until I saw this one. Personally, I like it, and the car has a huge spec. But, at the end of the day it's not going to be everyones cup of tea.

Someone round my way has a yellow E92 (not M3). Can't see it on any opion list though but I guess if you have the money you can specify any colour - BMW Individual?

PS It looks great on an M Sport coupe.

VERY common on E46 M3's so im surprised you havent seen it before and very much a marmite colour.

never seen or heard of it on an E46 330 though - is it a factory paint job ?

You're not by any chance looking at the 330i Touring at Stratstone Hull are you? I noticed it on an AUC search last week and thought it was a cracking price for a car with that spec and mileage.

I really like Phoenix Yellow but dealers will use any excuse to devalue your car come trade-in time and I think a marmite colour like this is playing into their hands a little.

If you like it, go for it.

But just be aware, as I guess you already are it will be difficult to sell, so it would better if you plan to keep it a long time.

Maybe leave it a while, and see if they reduce the price. Because if you don't buy it, I think its unlikely to sell quick.

Yes, you are both right, about which car it is, and what might happen when I come to chop it in. biggrin

It is a bit of a head turner though, and makes a change from black and silver ones!

Well, I bought it. biggrin

It's this one:

They must have been keen to get rid of it, because they offered me a pretty decent deal on a P/X with no arm twisting.

Apparently it was a special order paint job. I hate to think what this car must have cost new, because the original owner seems to have gone through the option list and ticked all the boxes.

Someone has lost a shed load of cash on that car in 2 years and you've just bought a bloody bargain. Not a fan of the colour but for the price and spec I'd wrap it in black and be pleased.

I think that is bloody lovely, and I hated PY on the E46 M3. As mentioned, it makes a great change from all the grey ones you see.

Now, does this mean that if I were to ask BMW nicely they'd resurrect Laguna Seca Blue for me?

I think the dealer rule on a PY car is that if you have a potential buyer, don't let him go!!

Dakar Yellow with a black roof? There's something about new cars in old colours.

The Pheonix Yellow looks good as well. wink
