I have a GShock Sky Rocket Watch GW-2000BD and when I set it for stopwatch mode the second hand sits at 59secs....it should (and always used to) point to 12 oclock as it's start point. Any ideas?

If you have the manual for the watch, look at page E-59 which describes the procedure for resetting the hands to the correct home positions. It seems as though it's not a fault - the hands can get knocked out of position harmlessly.

The manual says:

In regular timekeeping mode, hold button bottom-right (BR) for 3 seconds. (beep)
Press BR until the second hand is in the correct position.
Press BL to confirm and move to the next hand.
Use BR to change each hand/pair in turn until it's correct and then press BL to confirm.
Press TL to finish.

(I've just bought a very similar model. smile )
