Big grin - got my Chimaera on Friday. What a gas!! 1996(N) in aqua.
Not such big grin -a couple of probs! Alarm/immobiliser stopped workihg on Sunday. Read through the alarm problem topics, did a battery reset, still nothing.The chap I got the car from will pay to have it fixed, but I wondered if there is anything else that I might do to solve it.I also need to find somewhere reputable to sort it - in Bristol at the moment.
Secondly, it isn't getting hot enough! About 60 on the motorway and up to 90 in town. I guess the thermostat must be favourite. Any clues where to get one?

There are plenty of threads on heating issues too. In winter these cars don't get as hot as you would expect. I wouldn't jump to the thermostat first. I would check the swirl tank to be sure it is primed. The temperature is measured remotely from the engine so it is possible that you aren't getting proper circulation due to airlocks.

As far as temp goes thats about what I get on my temp gauge and did all the checks I could to ensure there were no air locks and all seemed ok. I formed the conclusion that some run hotter than others. If I remember right my fan cuts in at about 95 anyway so 90 is not far off. DO check it though as the warning to me was a possible dead engine if I had air locks that got worse!! Take it to dealer or specialist if you're still not 100% sure. I neve gamble with that sort of thing.
I had mine service recently and nothing was flagged-up then either. Offords in Cambridgeshire are all round good guys.
I was also advised here to keep an eye on coolant levels.
Oh.... and don't forget to check your oil regular as they tend to use quite a bit.

Other than that - just enjoy driving it. For the first 3 months I would constantly drive with one eye on the temp/pressure gauges. I've learnt to relax a little bit now!

Paul......my 450 temp shows exaclty the same as yours does. 60 on the motorway and not over 90 in traffic. Fans cut in no problem (now anyway) and never had any probs at all. My advice is that you need to check those figures regularly just to make sure, so get out and drive it as often as possible

My temps are similar to yours, she will run cooler on the m-way this time of year. Just keep a close eye on the temp for the first few warm days in the summer to make sure she does'nt get too hot and the fans cut in ok.
Also, don't thrash the engine till she is nice and warm

Thanx for replies on the cool running! Any ideas on the alarm/immobiliser? First fault - doors would not lock. Second problem - immobiliser would not switch off. Many presses of blipper later, immobiliser goes off, start car, drive home. Read forums - disconnect battery, reconnect, no immobiliser at all and doors will not lock! Central locking works on door release, courtesy light works, just nothing on alarm/immobiliser. It's very frustrating and I daren't park her anywhere except home and work (secure car park)
