Dear Chim owners,

Currently I have a Westfield 1800GTZ, but have always lusted after a TVR Chim. Just how expensive are they to run? The Westie does at least 30mpg and 0-60 in 5.4secs, would a Chim 4.0 compare on pace? Would about 14 grand secure a good enough Chimaera? Does anyone want to swap TVR for Westfield?!

Ta very much.............

I think TVR claim 4.8 to sixty for a 4.0, but only if the driver and conditions were perfect.

As for MPG, I live in London and get about 18mpg in traffic, 25mpg on a motorway run and have averaged maybe 20mpg over the last 2000 miles.

£14k will get you a tidy 95ish car with maybe 40k on the clock..

Do it!!!!

Oh, and budget about £500 per 6000 miles for servicing and other bits and bobs.....

I have had mine for 3 months now and love it more everyday - Not quite as focused as a Westie but amazingly practical and comfy considering they are so bloody fast!!

And the noise........

Cheers for that, the need for TVR is getting stronger!

Westie is very goog though, but am feeling the need for a proper roof, stereo, boot etc (this has NOTHING to do with my better half not liking it!! She does, she just hasn't realised it yet!) aswell as lots of BHP. Westie also let down by build quality (the factory bulit it).

What about insurance? any tips?

Make sure you save up for the first weekends driving... managed to spend £90 on petrol without going anywhere in particular!

For insurance, just make sure you are over 25 and most places will cover you - If not, Tesco.com are OK.

It is worth joining the TVRCC..
