Just bought a Z4 Coupe.....
Discussion
Hi guys n gals,
Bought myself a coupe last week, it's the 3.0 Si Sport in Silver Grey and I love it! I toyed with the idea of an M Coupe but as it will be used everyday I thought the running costs would be too high! I've not got any good piccies as yet due to the fact it's not stopped raining since (who said it never rains in Manchester?) but hopefully this weekend i'll give it a spruce up and post some.
I have a question, I want to change to CSL wheels but does the 3.0 need the wider rears or are the widths the same as the fronts? From the pictures i've seen it's hard to tell!
Thanks,
Gav..

And don't forget the pics...
Yes, it's a staggered setup on the Z4C. 8J front, 8.5J rear. The offset on genuine CSLs doesn't suit the non-M Z4's particularly well (they protrude a bit too much IMO although not everyone agrees with that), but some of the good reps have more suitable offsets. Lots more info on that above forum though.

Can't recall off the top of my head Gav, but there's certainly a big disparity in quality between reps. I briefly thought about reps in 18" for my Roadster but the dish of the 18" reps just looks wrong, and I didn't want to change to 19"s.
Some of the 19" reps are seriously convincing though. A search on that forum should bring up a good amount of info though.

What about BMW Performance double spoke 269 (see web site - I can't get a link that works). Not quite CSL style but if I had 2.5k to spend on wheels I'd be tempted. although would rather not have the run-flats.
BMW Performance double spoke 269 – complete wheel and tyre set
18 inch, cast. The BMW Performance double spoke 269 sets whole new standards in lightweight aluminium wheel construction using low-pressure casting. This is suggested by the elegant minimalism of its sports-style design, and is confirmed by the very low diameter of the spokes results in considerably reduced weight. For BMW Z4 (E85/E86). 8J x 18 225/40 R18 W front, 8.5J x 18 255/35 R18 W rear. RSC complete wheel and tyre set with runflat properties, tyres: Bridgestone. Not for Z4 M Roadster and Z4 M Coupé.

Welcome to the exclusive world of Z4 Coupe ownership. After 3 years of ownership, I still can't think of another car for similar money that looks so good.
That's a great colour too but you will regret not going for the M. The M coupe is not much more to buy an running costs are not sky high - just more. Not going for the M eats away at a lot of people until they give in and then wonder why they didn;t do it in the first place.

Disagree. Having come out of an M3, I thought long and hard about whether to go for Sport or M. I chose the Sport and have not regretted the decision. That's a great colour too but you will regret not going for the M. In everyday driving there is as much performance as you need, plus the engine and gearbox are smoother. In terms of running costs, insurance, VED and servicing are cheaper, while the MPG better.
The difference is night and day. Were talking almost another 100bhp. I had a 3.0litre then the M3 now a Z4M coupe. Although the 3.0 litre is fast the M accelerates like a motorbike. i.e race engine..
Apart from Road Tax and insurance the difference in costs are neglible. In the real world fuel economy is much the same to.
