After breakfast in Arnage we saw a McLaren F1 GTR parked on the street outside a bar. Just had to film it. Click here to watch it This is in my opinion the Ultimate car. I read that there is only a handful of these around. 9 made 1995 and 9 1996. Only some of them were converted for street use as this one...

Wasn't this one of the featured cars in a recent Evo magazine that had a large McLaren F1 feature? I seem to recognize the reg. no.

We met the owner but I forgot his name...
This car (M700 BHP) was also in Fifth gear when Tiff Needell tested the Mclaren agains an Enzo back to back.

The car used to belong to PHer Mr Bridger until he sold it, presumably to the guy you met in Le Mans.

Best one I saw was at the Classic. Sat outside a cafe in Arnage and the "Handlye Special" (Rolls Royce special with a Merlin engine) came past.

Sorry to sound nerdish on this but have just been checking through my book of the F1 - Driving Ambition, the official story from Ron D & Gordon M. Only 5 F1 LM's were built, one for each of the 5 which finished (and won)Le Mans in '95 as a road going replica of the GTR, and only 3 were in orange. So a rare (and beautiful)beast indeed! I think it knocked spots off the F40 which it was parked alongside, and certainly drew a lot more admiring stares.

yeh, think the other 2 lms were painted black with a purple stripe, and i believe they are owned by the sultan of brunei whos apparently got nine f1s now, there is still an lm prototype retained by mclaren, I think this car (m700) was a gtr converted back to road spec and then painted papaya orange, it could have come from america a few years back costing about 350000 for the conversion.
