How hard is this game!

Seriously.

I'm at a bit now where I keep dying and I spending more time on loading screens reloading my last game than actually playing the game.

Infuriating.

Currently trying to do the fade with my main character. I keep coming up against a Hurlock which, I think, is casting a spell on me. I end up with a big red circle around my character and he dies pretty much instantly.

Or I go another way and have to fight 3 enemies at once, which just annihilates me.

I'm tempted to star the whole game again but don't know what I would do differently.

Bloody great game. Suspect some upgrade paths better than others though as I seemed to chose the right skills which led to most combat being pretty simple, whilst the cf got created every fight she got in to. Who are you playing as?

A human rogue.

I'm in the fade and I have the human and mouse form.

1 health potion and no poultices.

When I get into a fight with more than 1 enemy, I dry really quickly. I mean really, really quickly. Most fights, I'm dead in under 10 seconds even using potions after potion. This is how I'm down to 1.

I can use the mouse to get behind the hurlock that casts curse of morality, stun it. But then another 2 enemies join in. If I concentrate just on the caster I can get him down to about 80% health but then I die.

I went through the game for the first time as a rogue, and struggled immensely, mainly using Morrigan instead as she's quality!

Second time through and I'm using a mage. This I am finding really easy (so far) the ability to have two healers on the team really helps, whilst Alastair hacks and slashes everything else to pieces.

Do you need to do that part of the fade level now or can you finish another part and come back as one of the other 'morphs'?

Ojly lasted 5 mins before I got bored and turned it off. Just don't have the patients for this any more

I got to a similar place and switched my difficult to easy. It allowed to play through the game(which still took a substantial amount of time (a valuable commodity for me!)) and not get too frustrated. The story was worth it as I wanted to see how it played out and I'm now doing similar through the add-ons.

I'm not a hardcore RPG'er so don't go into all the tactic slots etc, so this represented for me the best value option.

Tip: Do the Mage Tower quest FIRST. This will give you access to Wynne (a Healer) who's pretty much essential for the inexperienced RPG'er.

Tactics are very useful, but not essential. Doing so can make thing alot easier, especially with healing (ie, put a rule which makes a character use a pot when <25% health. or make a mage use a 'crowd control' ability when surrounded) If you don't use them, you'll need to micro-manage more, so use the spacebar/pause a lot.

And remember - mages are essential for "Area of Effect" damage (like Blizzard) and "Crowd Control" (like Mind Blast for stuns) to make your life easier. Morrigan's "Shape Changing" abilities are utterly useless, so spec her elsewhere whenever possible.

Lastly, Aggro management is essential. Use Alastair for this, put on and use any abilities than generate aggro so they're focussed on him.

Its actually not a difficult game once you learn how it all works. As I say, its massively weighted towards Mages, I played it without any mages at one point and even "easy" got tricky. I tried again with 1 tank and 3 mages and just smashed through the game even on the higher difficulties.
Its not a patch on Baldurs Gate, but still a great game and well worth sticking with.

My main character was an archer (so, still a rogue, but specialising in bow stuff). I found it a bit TOO easy, to be honest. Think I only lost my entire party once through the whole game.

Thinking about it, I always had a mage and a tank (soldier, warrior etc) in the party. The fourth would be random, depending on who I had recruited last.

(On normal difficulty btw)
