Evening All,

Just started commuting to work on the bike a few times a week rather than using the car + to get fit too! I've bought the perfect bike for the 26 mile journey - a Kona Dr Dew, which is fantastic.

However, after a few rides I've noticed I really don't get on with the saddle - after 10 miles or so I'm in pain! I've tried adjusting its rails/tilting it, but I just don't find the thing comfy. I'm from a mountain biking background so I'm pretty sure it is this saddle rather than my backside getting used to it.

Is there any of you out there that does a similar commute and could recommend a good comfortable saddle for me to get instead?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrick

I would recommend you invest in a Brooks saddle, they just get better with useage. Fully worth it for a long commute.

I have a Ritchey Marathon WCS (love it) but would never recommend a saddle to someone else as we are all built differently.

try a few - there isn't one brand / style that suits everyone

but be sure to include the www.smp4bike.co.uk range in your considerations - for me they are the best thing ever!

maybe the EXTRA would suit for your needs

Are you wearing proper shorts?

If not, that is the logical investment, not a new saddle. If you have decent shorts/bibs on and your saddle hurts after 10 miles then there is a problem.

No one can really recommend you a saddle - they are such a personal thing. It took me about 4 saddles before I settled on the SLR Team that is on my race bike at the moment.

It will take a couple of weeks riding to break your arse in too. No saddle will be comfy in that time

As everyone else says, you have to find one that fits you.
