PH search isn't working so apologies if this is a repost...

I'm on a conference call just now and two phrases that have made me pull a face and, nearly audibly, say "y'what?" were "Our next meeting is a plate spin meeting" and "let's slide the boundary".

Where did they come from, who the hell made it up, what the hell were they thinking and what else is out there that you know?

Just grab your balls and call them out on it. Stick your name in lights and be remembered.

"....is a plate spin meeting."
"Erm...excuse me but I have no idea what a plate spin meeting is?"

In anycase, I dont think its a management term. A google search reveals that its likely a product:

In which case keep schtum, lest you highlight your lack of knowledge.

The plate spin term was the client's next meeting, not mine so I opted to not pursue it - I did, however, get audibly irritated when I was called Nigel for the third time - Not sure where Nigel came from as neither my first name (James) nor my surname have any correlation to the name Nigel.

On the Virtualisation point there - they are in the process of doing just that...

You have to take a couple of bamboo canes and a load of plastic plates to your next meeting. Seriously. Even if it only ends up as a 30 second bit of humour.

Plate Spin Meeting - we haven't got a clue what we are doing so we are hoping you could point us in the right direction.

Let's Slide The Boundary - follow up from above. Once you tell them what they need to do you then have to tell them it will take months longer than anticipated and cost three times as much as they thought.

Effectively your client appears to be of the ameoba variety and you should abuse them by charging them a fortune biggrin
